I’m Zach and I’m a postdoc from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. I’m interested in examining insect population dynamics and physiology using different ‘omic datasets and bioinformatics. I completed my undergrad and master’s degree at the University of Saskatchewan where I examined the ecology of Strepsiptera, a parasite of insects. I moved to Western University for my PhD where I used whole-genome data to look for evidence of adaptation in mountain pine beetle. I am now using RNA-Seq data to examine the molecular mechanisms of diapause in two flea beetle species. In my downtime I enjoy reading, watching baseball, and spending time with my dog, Sox.
